  1. Has anyone been able to get ATI's MMC to record in 480x480 mode for SVCD's?

I can set Power VCD II to that resolution so it is a capability of the card.

Not sure how to do it with MMC.

  2. Try upgrading MMC to 7.7, it has an SVCD preset.
As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."

  3. I looked at 7.7 once and it said on the site that I cannot use it with my card.

I have the ATI TV-Wonder PCI.

    Can I use it?

  4. Have you tried Stinky's Registry tool (found on this site)? He has put a lot of great effort into creating 'templates' for creating high-quality SVCDs. You should check it out!

I personally use his tool for setting the horiz. vert. motion search features. Saves time!

  5. The reg tools worked I can make a profile for SVCD now. The problem is am I going to run into audio/video sync issues.

Any suggestions to avoid this before I start?

  6. From my experience (I don't use MMC 7.7 anymore), there are never any sync issues for me in MMC 7.6. Besides, it would appear to be a problem folks have if the audio / video clocks are slightly off.

Hopefully it will go well for you (using his templates), but I have never had to re-mux using TMPGenc or other. I always cap directly to VCD / SVCD. Stay with CBR, it is less likely you would experience audio drift that way. I use VBR for everything, however, as I have not had any audio drift in MMC...

PowerVCR II, however, is a different story. I can't figure out why I have such extreme audio drift with that application...
