.DAT that plays, but doesnt exist!??

Hi.
I burned a vcd with chapters and menu. everything fine. After a few hours i realized that i wanted to make changes, and make anohter vcd, with the same movie. So I tried to copy the .dat to the hard disk with the "cdxa2mpg" tool of VCDEASY. but when i tried, it said: "The file "xxx" cant be open, it doesnt exist!!!
how is it possible?? i played it in my standaralone dvd, and it played perfect. also in my computer cd drive, with Windows media player and others vcd players, and also worked.
Then i said, well, ill copy it to HD and rename it to .mpg, and i tried to Add it was new track in VCDEASY, but nothing happened.
SO whats happening???! why it tells me that it doesnt exist???
I noticed that in the w. explorer, in details info (size, creation date, attrib., and those things,) the "last modification date" was missing. it appeared empty, but it has creation date.

Ill tell a little more details. When i used to create my vcds with chapters in easy vcd, and then burn it with nero. i couldnt play them on vcd players or windows media player, only on standarlone dvd players. after some time i got the latest version of vcdeasy and the latest version of Nero. then i tried to burn a vcd with chapters again, to see if it work now. So, now they can be seen in any vcd or dvd player, but, i cant edit them! i cant "rip" it to mpg again! somebody else has seen this problem??? PLEASE!
I tried the cue option, and the Detailed cue.
