I tried using dvd2svcd but the result whit vcdxbuild if a svcd with no sound when i put it on my dvd standalone using digital output. But by the analogic audio output i get a prologic sound.
I need some orintation please.

Ac3 in a svcd will probably not work on any standalone dvd player. If you really want to try it you can multiplex the ac3 into your video stream in bbmpeg.
Svcd does support multichannel mpeg audio which supports up to 7.1 channels of audio, and you can use I-Author to multiplex it but you have to encode it correctly. You can use some linux tools to do this or you can use the encoder that Philips released. I don't know where you can get this encoder other than in the collection of files in the DVD2SVCD bundle. Actually this is exactly what DVD2SVCD is creating when you use the 5.1 option, a multichannel mpeg audio SVCD.
The only way to play multichannel mpeg audio in a svcd is if your dvd player supports it, which your dvd player should since its made by Philips, and if your audio decoder also supports it. Read your decoder's manual. If it does not specifically state that it supports multichannel mpeg audio than all you will get is prologic.
If your hardware doesnt support this format than you're out of luck. You'll have to stick to regular prologic or prologic 2 if your decoder supports it. There is no other way to get 5.1 sound in a vcd or svcd. -
as adam said "You'll have to stick to regular prologic or prologic 2 if your decoder supports it."
I believe that the best to do is the next version of dvd2svcd 1.1.0 (not released yet) will allow Dolby Surround Prologic 2 Downmixing. So yes you need 5 speakers and a decoder to take advantage of it. Nice thing is you can use 192Kbps audio bitrate stereo so it takes nearly the same as just regular stereo. So in the future when you do get a decoder for prologic 2 you can take advantage of 5.1. But in the meantime it'll play just fine as stereo. -
I have a sony Dolby Digital/dts decoder. I dont know if it can decode mepeg multichanel sound. May I asume that my dvd can decode the mpeg multichanel sound because I have a signal of prologic sound in the analogic output?
What is de diference betwen prologic and prologic2. The prologic that I know is 4 chanels (left, right, center, sorround).
Thanks for answering so quickly. -
No the fact that you still get prologic doesnt necessarily mean your dvd player supports mc mpeg audio, you would still get prologic on any dvd player assuming your decoder supported it. But Philips is basically the company that invented mc mpeg audio and if you have a Philips dvd player than there is a very strong chance that your dvd player does support mc mpeg audio.
The decoder should have the mc audio logo on it if it supports it. Its a fairly rare thing for a decoder to support so chances are yours doesnt support it.
I don't know any details about prologic 2 but I'm sure the dolby homepage will have plenty of info on it. -
I had tested in my dvd standalone same videos whit ac3 soundtrak multiplexed directly with bbmpeg and some other created by dvd2svcd and one other multiplexed by iauthor ps format. I burned it whit nero, but i get no sound in ac3 files and prologic in dvd2svcd ones.
I have readed the specificacions of dvd player and it support MPEG audio, but the digital output is fix to pcm audio when the dvd recognice a vcd/svcd.
Thanks any way for your help.

As I said Svcd does not support Ac3 files. I do not think any dvd player would play that.
DVD2SVCD uses I-Author to multiplex audio when authoring 5.1 mc audio. As far as the audio is concerned both the DVD2SVCD and the I-Author created SVCD's are the same. It appears your decoder does not support multichannel mpeg audio, that's why your getting prologic.
MPEG audio is not the same as multichannel mpeg audio. Apparantly your dvd player does not support the format you are trying to create. Either live with prologic or buy a new decoder.[/list]
