  1. Hi
I grabbed a firewire card awile ago and then it kinda sat there for awhile after the initial testing. I have a JVC digital video camera and my main goal is to put my video on CD so I can watch it in my Apex dvd player which plays all forms of Cd's. I am using premiere and capturing the video with out a problem how ever the file are rather large and I now need to convert these to mpeg so I can burn them with Nero to a VCD............ Now am I doing this the best way I can? Is there a better way? Is there a capture program that will capture in something i can simply then burn to a cd and have a VCD? Is there something i should change in Premiere so the files are smaller and in a different format so it is easier?

    Thanks for the help

The newly released Mediostrean NeoDVD will convert DV through firewire directly to DVD format and burn DVD on either CD (mini DVD) or DVD-R.
    Check it out at http://www.mediostream.com.

They also have CAMPEG RT which convert DV through firewire into mpeg2 files.

  9. one other thing

what is the best way to capture it from the digital camera?

tmpg for coverting is fine but i am wondering if I am caprtuing the video the best way
HD space is not a consern and time is not a factor

    I am running a p800 with 762 mg's of ram
so I have the speed and ram and i am capturing using Premiere

so i guess what i am asking is premiere the best way to capture it I know it is the best program

    thanks

  10. digital camcorder to PC thru firewire is the best. your other option is to use analog out of your dv cam, and use an analog capture device/card; which defeats the purpose of going the digital camcorder route, so I won't recommend that.
