I converted a MiniDVD to SCVD-

I extracted the Video & Audio streams from the vob and re-multiplexed to a .MPG file then burned as a SVCD with NERO.
Now the Aspect ratio is out. Is there a way to fix this without re-encoding the video.?

The Aspect ratio of the MiniDVD was ok.

    Cheers

Assuming that mini dvd is 720xXXX and SVCD is 480xXXX, there is no way to fix it without reencoding. Of course you can change the displayed aspect ratio easily, but resizing is not possible without re-encoding.

Thanks for the reply Truman, the minidvd was 352x576
so I also want the SVCD at 352x576.

What exactly do you mean by changing the displayed screen aspect ratio?

Is there nothing in the SVCD header ?
Can I add black borders top and bottom?

    cheers

I guess the Displayed Aspect Ratio of the mini dvd is 16:9 anamorphic. DVD support that feature, the dvd player adds the borders to display it properly on a 4:3 TV set.
SVCD support DAR 4:3 only. However, if you demux the 16:9 miniDVD, remux and burn to XSVCD, the DAR 16:9 information in the sequence header is not changed. So the image is displayed stretched vertically.
Obviously your player does not support 16:9 anamorphic XSVCD, so there is no other way than resize and add borders, i.e. re-encoding.
Resize 352x576 to 352x432 and add 72 pixel border top and bottom.
