I have virtual dub and divfix on my PC. I have done all the listed things below:

1.stripped and rebuilt index with divfix
    2. done the rederrived keyframe flags with Virtual dub
    3. scanned video stream for errors(virtual dub)
    4. and saved as avi( different file than original)

I still get a reference to 0x000000..whatever in memory.
have I missed something?....is there more I can do??? or am I wasting my time and this file is just never going to work properly???

  2. Most likely your file is just stuffed.

BUT I have had some luck in similar cases with encoding the file using TMPGEnc to mpg even if VirtualDub reports errors and cannot process. Just encode it and see. You can after play with the mpg file using VirtualDub if this works.

If the file plays ok using Windows Media Player you could use GraphEdit to convert it (see WMV to AVI guide for the process)
