  1. this might seam an ez prob, but i'm confused. i've burnt a project from DV onto a vcd, yet i can't play it on either windows media or power dvd. if i need to change an option in a menu, what and where? My cam is actually ntsc, and im in the uk (pal). does this make a difference? me thinks not coz i've burnt a dvd and it works fine. but can't always do this coz dvdr disks r expensive
    (using pinacle express)
    PLEASE HELP!!!

  2. Windows media player does not recognise S/VCDs.. so here's what i do..

Step 1 - Create a copy of the Windows media Icon on your desktop, and rename it to "Play VCD" or something...

Step 2 - Right click on it and select properties. You now need to change the "Target" line. Simply add X:\mpegav\avseq01.dat on the end - Where X = the letter of your CD Drive...

Step 3 - Just make sure theres a VCD in the drive when you D-Click...

  3. ok, just to make sure, in the box 'target', where it says "Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe"/prefetch:1 do i type what you have said?
    after the 1, is there a : or; ?

also, i've got a feeling that the vcd that i burnt may not be ok, what can i do to check to see if it has been writen on?
    thanks

  7. Ok we need more info... explain what you used to capture/convert/burn your VCD... the NTSC/PAL thing shouldnt make a difference when playing on your PC...

  8. WMP can't play interactive VCDs and by changing the target of its shortcut you will miss VCDs interactivity, menus, chapters and slide shows.

  9. To capture the video i used a canon mv450i (=zr30mc in the US which is where i bought it) camcorder, to convert i'm using Pinnacle express dv, and to burn im using a TEAC 24*10*40 CDRW (as it came bundeled w/pc, don't know model no)- ,but i also have a PIONEER AO3 DVDR/RW drive that i could use. as mentioned before, its not as if nothing works with it, cos ive sucessfully burnt a dvdr that i can watch both on my pc and stand-alone player, but i would rather have the chace to put it onto a cdr (if i am able) cos there much cheeper

  10. Try using Tmpgenc to convert, try both the NTSC and PAL VCD templates... The resulting file can then be burned with either Nero or VCDImager/Fireburner...

BTW.. this depends on whether Tmpgenc will accept the file format your camera produces...
