  1. I've looked on this site already regarding the directions and steps but I don't see this problem addressed directly. I have a mpeg clip that is about 750MB. I'm using Nero to attempt to burn the clip into a VCD format. But when I add the clip to the burn job, it adds a significant amount to the CD size (80min CD). Is there any other way of getting around this besides cutting the clip? I've tried to use TMPenc to cut the clip but the processing time is estimated at 35 hours.

  2. In Nero>File>Preference>Expert>Enable overburn and put "82:00:00" in
box, most 80min cd-r can handle it but make sure your burner can or it might damage it.

    Fate,

There is no way that a simple cut should take that long. Sounds like your saying that you are re-encoding to use the 'source range' to 'cut' your video.

If you don't use the 'overburn' method (if you only have a 74 min CD vs an 80 min one) and actually have 1 minute of video to cut (like open/closing credits, nudity scenes....) then use the cut tool in TMPGenc. It should take 10-15 minutes at the most.

Go to FILE > MPEG Toos > Merge/Cut > Add. Once you've added your file, select the appropriate video type. Double click on the video and use the '[' and ']' to chose the start and stop of the video. Continue this for any video for any amount of merge/cut you need.
    Have a good one,

  4. Thanks both for the reply, but for clarification, it's not that my settings are set not to handle the 80min CD, it's just that the 732mg original file turns into a 800mg job if I choose VCD or SVCD.

So is cutting the only option?

Yeah Neomaine, I think it is re-encoding....I'm still trying to figure out this TMPenc proggy.

Isn't there a way to let Nero test your blank CD-r disk to see how many minutes it can handle?

If a bin/cue file where too big for a 80min CD-r, what alternatives are there? Would WinIso be able to help (e.g. be able to split the bin/iso into 2 disks????).

I stopped by my local Comp USA and couldn't find any CD-Rs that were longer than 80min. How do you find 90min CD-Rs???

  6. you can go with NTCS film rather than NTCS (23 fps vs. 29.97 fps). This can give some chances.

    regards,
