I’ve been making VCD’s for a while now and I just started experimenting with menus. I’m trying to make a motion menu using TSCV and when I generate the menu I get an error from TMPGEnc saying something about file not supported. Here’s what it said,
Start: 6/16/2002 2:10:43 PM
End: 6/16/2002 2:10:43 PM
Dealing time: 00:00:00
-------------------------------------------------------------
E:\VCD\TSCV\menues\menue 1.mpv
Format: Video-CD NTSC (MPEG-1 352x240 29.97fps CBR 1150kbps, Layer-2 44100Hz 224kbps)
Video: E:\VCD\TSCV\seq\seq-0000000.bmp
Audio: none
Result: File "E:\VCD\TSCV\seq\seq-0000000.bmp" can not open, or unsupported.
Dealing time: 00:00:00
I think I got everything right up till this point. But I’m not sure whats going on with TMPGEnc.

No man...I think it's not TMPgec....it's TSVC. That stupid buggy program. I am using it right now...There are so many bugs in that program. I created my motion menu...The output mpg has chapters borders but no motion pictures. It sucks....but right now that's the only program that i know has that option..soo i guess work on it...

Well, I did find a way around it. In the settings check enable VFAPI-AVI for menu work. Youll have to use VFAPIconv to make an AVI of either the .mpg file you made or the .d2v flie from DVD2AVI. When your in the Menu Generator window click on general options and select Encode with TMPGenc and also Save also as BMP for better quality (TMPGenc only). If TMPGenc still doesn’t start the encode you can manually load the first seq file in the TCV/seq folder and TMPGenc will encode the whole sequence. I’ve got it to work but I think it still needs some work I’m not to impressed with the quality now. I’ll just stick with still menus for now.

Dayv: Hey thanks for the info. I'll definitely try it. I was about to give up on TSVC..It gave me so many problems. But I'll try your tips...if doesn't work then i'll give up. But I still have a question about your info. The part that u said "and also Save also as BMP for better quality " I don't know what u mean by that ?....and One more thing. I have VFAPI-AVI.. version 1.03 and 1.04. According to my experience I know that ver. 1.04 doesn't support MPEG. It only takes in D2V. But ver.1.03 does support MPEG, but have lots of problems.. Sometime when I load in my MPEG it always give me an error ....something about memory...Maybe I didn't install it right.. So can u tell me how u install it ?? I just opened the zip and click and drag to my hard drive. Not in any specific folder ....

wht you guys can do is create an mpeg video that you want to use for your motion menu and then have it loop infinetely. You can do this with vcdeasy...

No I’m sure you installed it right it’s just a matter of unzipping. I’m using AFAPI-AVI ver 1.03b. Use the d2v it works better. I just think the mpg looks better. Also noticed that chapter points are different between the mpg and the d2v. It looks to me like the d2v was off a bit, not sure why. The “use bmp for better quality (TMPGenc only)” is an option that you choose in the Menu Generator window under General Options.
The only way I know to make motion menus is using TSCV. With TSCV you can do this in the menu window. Select what you want to loop, like your Main Menu. Then in the properties section you set the Timeout to the same Main menu so it will continually loop. In VCD you can have a Menu continually loop by clicking the Interactivity button then choose the menu under play item and selecting Wait Infinite. yes I guess d2v is esier for VFAPI to take in w/out any errors or memory errors stuff. But the thing is that I only have MPEG files.. So is there a program that i can use to convert MPEG to d2v ?
-
Not that I know. You can try the VFAPI version that I have. I never got any memory errors with it. I have 256mb DDR memory, that doesn’t seem like a whole lot to me. It’s only 477kb I could mail it to you. But the d2v still do work better anyway if you can find a way to convert it.

Dayv:..yes please send it to me. It would be appreciated. I'll try it.. But I am sure I'll be needing your help later on ok. ??? please send to: anhlunnhaque@yahoo.com
