Communication failure with Pioneer DVR104 & Nero - any i

I'm still having problems burning with Nero (and Prassi). In Nero I keep getting a Communication Failure part way through a test burn. Any ideas why this might be happening?

I've tried 3 different dvd-r's and a dvd-rw disk (only on test though, as I don't want a coaster before I've even made sure I'm doing it all right).

Does everyone successfully test burn before doing the actual burn?

Any suggestions.....getting a bit desperate. A data dvd-rw worked (just a bunch on mp3's), so I assume the 104 works OK.

Got the drive on Tuesday and still haven't managed a damn dvd-r yet!

It worked. I never tried data CD's, but I got the same message with DVD disks. If it does not work, I can send you the snapshot of my exact settings. Good luck. I have Win2000, but it's almost the same.

OK, the same thing happened to me (communication error half way through). I fixed it by reconnecting the drive on the opposite IDE cable as the hardrive. The hardrive is on secondary so I made the DVDRW drive the slave drive on the primary. Hopes this helps, it did for me.

Yeah, excellent! Thanks guys! Changed it to master on the secondary drive and to PIO and it's burned a dvd-rw disk successfully. Just need to try a dvd-r now....!
