  1. I have been making XVCD's for awhile from every source imaginable. Never had a problem converting them with TMPGenc, and finally burning with NERO. Usually use Bit Rates around 2000+ CBR depending on length. I recently started working with XSVCD's and really liked the outcome!

My problem is that if I make an SVCD at 1150 Kbps CBR 480x480 everything looks fine, except for occasional artifacts that pop up, but I can deal with that. I started playing around with XSVCD and increasing the Bit Rates to 1150+ and have been having Motion problems (Jumpy). I ALWAYS have the Motion Search level at SLOWWWEEEST, for best results. Usually set the audio at 44.1k 192kbps (Because I find that lower audio bit rate isn't that different, and increases video capabilities.)
Why is the playback so jumpy, it looks like its more jumpy when the pixels are brighter? (Whites) Kinda of strobe effect. I was under the impression the ad-1200 was fairly competent with high SVCD bit rates, even up to 3500kbs! Is there something I am doing wrong?

    Any help is appreciated

BTW: I have a laptop and desktop P2s (Slow) so I have been staying away from increasing Res to 720x480, but is this possible on the 1200?

Can the 1200's Mpeg2 Decoder only handle low bit rates with CDRs? Is it the Burning software, CDR (They are Blank (Seethroughs))

  2. honestly, i would never want to create an svcd at that low of a bitrate. i always keep my svcd's higher than 2300. if the movie can't fit using a bitrate of 2300, i go to 3 cds. i'd rather have quality than quantity. i have the newest model of the apex player and it works fine for me. here are the settings i use in tmpgenc:

    2 pass VBR
    avg bitrate over 2300
    max bitrate 2520
motion precision search - high quality (don't need highest quality)
    toolame for audio conversion
    ssrc for sampling frequency conversion

i've made svcds lower than 1900, but they don't come out great, honestly. also, some of the old apex players might have a problem with high speed burns. try 2x or 4x just for kicks. mine supports 20x and 24x speeds with no problem. i have the new 3 disc changer apex model.
