  1. Ok, I was testing out Directx 8 on my system & then afterwards when I decided to do a video capture I noticed it killed my video capture software. Usually when I select to do a video capture in the DVC's software I get a blue window after initialization & then I'm able to record & play the video there, etc..

Now all I get is a black screen in the little window & I can't do jack squat.

I checked Microsoft's site & saw that Directx 8 seems to have some "issues" with video capture devices. So I downloaded their video capture patch.

    It didn't work.

Then I got DirectX Buster & successfully removed Directx 8 & reinstalled the old Directx 7 I had.

    That didn't work either.

So I uninstall Dazzle's DVC software & reinstall it.

    THAT doesn't work as well.

I even tried calling Dazzle's tech support but after 40 min. on hold I gave up. I emailed them but haven't heard anything yet.

Has ANYONE had this problem & somehow managed to fix it???!!!

  2. Two thing that might help. One thing its good to install Direct X before you install the Dazzle I had almost the same problem with the all in wonder. Second at dazzle website they say not all AMD chip work with dazzle. if I was you I would format the hard drive. install direct x and the patch then the dazzle.

  3. DirectX 8 should be detected and removed by anti-virus software as far as I'm concerned. After installing it I had video capture problems using Ulead Video Studio. Whenever I tried to preview a video it would lock up the entire PC. Removing DirectX 8 with a problem like DirectX Buster appears to work, however my 3d performance was terrible after doing this. The only way I was able to get back to DirectX 7a at full performance was a clean reinstall of Windows 98SE. When they released 8b or whatever the current one was, I was stupid enough to try again...with the same results. Fortunately this time I had installed Second Chance previously and was able to go back to 7.0a without any problems.

  4. You may want to try http://dazzle.bcastvideo.com/ There is a lot of Dazzle information there. The Dazzle tech support people do not visit it any longer, but there is a lot of information there any how.

You may also want to look into a program like Norton Ghost. After you get everything working and your software installed, create an image of your disk and write it to CD-R. This will save you hours when you have to reinstall Windows.

Try the unofficial DVC forum - it might be a better source for info or to put yuor question forward
