    you can use windows 'print screen' function.
    open the mpeg. go to the scene you want to make a .bmp of, and pause it. then press the 'print screen' button at the top right of your keyboard.

    open ms paint. [go to your star menu>programs>accesories>paint.

    go to file>new and press 'ctrl+v' [ or edit>paste]
    then save the new file as .bmp and thats it.

  5. Virtual Dub will do it too. I've found this to be the easiest way. Just load your mpeg into vdub and move to the frame you want to make a bmp of and under "video" copy to clip board and past into whatever program you're going to edit it with.
