  1. Hey
I have a 352*480 mpeg1 which i encoded with tmpg, in the advance tab i put full screen in video arrange method. My problem is that when i play the file in WinDVD it plays fine like it should but when i play the file in WMP the picture is stretched on the whole screen and it doesnt view the whole picture. I tried to change the video arrange method to full screen keep aspect ratio but then the picture was really narrow. So my question is what is it gonna look like on a standalone player if i leave it on full screen in tmpg? And if u know why the picture was really narrow in full screen keep aspect ratio i would be very glad if u could tell me what was the problem.
    Thanks a lot

  2. In your standalone DVD player, it's going to look just like in WinDVD.

WMP only supports mpeg2 playback if you have a mpeg2 codec installed and that is not the same as supporting SVCD. Use either PowerDVD or WinDVD to play SVCDs on your computer.

  5. why? will mpeg2 play right? also kwag could u recommend some settings for tmpg for an mpeg2 file (GOP or anything else), your mpeg1 template is great i got the fast and the furious with no blocks.
    Thanks

    WMP doesn't recognize the aspect.
What could you expect from Microsoft

bbb says that if it's MPEG-2 it will display correctly. I tried on my machine, but MPEG-2 at 352x480 also display incorrectly with WMP.
At least in all my XP ( home, prof ) WMP doesn't display correctly.

I just use either PowerDVD or WinDVD( best ) to do my previews. If they show correctly, i know that they will also display correctly when I burn to CD.

  7. ok thanks a lot kwag but i have another question for u, i want to re-encode the fast and the furious into mpeg2 instead of mpeg1 so when i have a dvd burner i wont have encode again and lose more quality, so could u recommend the settings in tmpg or should i just change to mpeg2 and ill be fine?
And could u also make an mpeg2 template cause your mpeg1 template is the best template out there but i and a lot of other people still want to use mpeg2.
    Thanks a lot u r the best

    Thanks smokingweed3000:

You can try the same settings in MPEG-2, they should work too, depending on your player.
But you'll probably have more complatible players playing 704x480 MPEG-1 than MPEG-2.
The reason is that almost all DVD players that support standard VCD resolutions ( which is 352x240(288) mpeg video and 704x480(576) mpeg stills ) should play the new template's 704x480(576) resolution.

If your DVD player doesn't support SVCD, then probably your 704x480 MPEG-2 will not play.

And BTW what was the final file size of "Fast and Furious"? 8)

  9. so u basically just leave it on 252*480 and switch to mpeg2?

    The size was:
    first cd 721
    second cd 742
but i changed to CQ 90, bitrate 2350 max and 700 min and i paused at all the fast action scenes and i couldnt see even one block.
    Keep it up

You don't have to go so high on the CQ at 704x480 ( as in the Beta template).

Use CQ=75 in the Beta template and the bit rates you set above to fit the whole movie in 2 CD's.
