Is there a way to open multiple AVI files in TMPGEnc to convert all at once similar to the way DVD2AVI will allow you to do it with multiple VOB files?

For long captures I end up with about 6 AVI files and I've been just converting them one at a time and then merging the resulting 6 MPG files but I was wondering if there was a way to just make them into 1 MPG file through the encoding process.

  2. Open the first AVI file with VirtualDub.
Append the rest (using the auto append function).
Frameserve the video to Tmpgenc to encode into 1 mpg file.

Well, now I remember why I never use VirtualDub. I can never get any of it's features to work. I tried opening the 1st AVI and got an error message. "Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'dvsd' (unknown) VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."

  4. You need to find and install that codec.

    This codec my work:
    ftp://ftp.adaptec.digisle.net/1394/hotconnect_ultra_v20_win.exe

or this one (but this one is demo with watermark):

yep, figured that much out but i ended up installing the panasonic dv codec.

    http://www.panasonic.co.jp/customer/video/download/ftp/pdvcodec.exe
    http://www.panasonic.co.jp/avc/video/DIGICAM/mdv/soft/pdvcodec.exe

Good news is that solved just about all the problems I had with VirutalDub and I can finally start playing around with it. Bad news is, though I finally got to try using Vdub for capturing, when I do I get video and no sound.

Virtual Dub will not do DV captures ( am guessing that is what you are doing since you just installed a DV codec )

Try AVI_IO it did last time i looked.
Or any commercial NLE application - i.e - premiere , vegas video and so on...

Just open your Sound settings and make sure your "Record" setting is set right for the capture. My Creative Labs Audigy sound card uses a program called Surround Mixer that I can set the microphone setting to "What you here".
