I'm not really sure I understand when to deinterlace or leave alone. I have the Hollywood DV-Bridge that I use for DSS ( composite video input ) capture or VHS capture. I have been deinterlacing all caps because if I don't it looks terrible when encoded to 352x480 ( jagged lines ). What about DV capture from my mini-DV cam? Is that normally interlaced, and do I need to deinterlace? Can someone explain when/why this needs to be done? Thanks!

That's the resolution of the cap, right? So if I take a 720x480 cap and downsize to VCD, do I still need to deinterlace because the cap was above 240? Thanks!

From what I have been told, if you capture at 480 then resize back to 240 you do not need to deinterlace.
