  1. I was wondering if anyone could help me playback a SVCD that I had created in I-author and then burned with Adaptec EZ CD. When I try and use powerDVD, it says that a disc with an unsupported format is in there. I am trying to use PowerDVD or PC-DVD Player by Creative. Any ideas on how to get this SVCD playable?

  3. Try to get a program called CD-Mage (I think that was the program?) and convert it to a bin/cue file to burn in CDRWin.

  4. If u look in the tools section under PowerDVD no where does it say that it can play SVCDs.....this is because it doesn't! Try WinDVD which does play SVCDs before u go melting a bunch more cd's...

  5. Yepp.
    I-Author - EZCD - SVCD work OK.
Autoplay w/ WinDVD which recognizes it as SVCD...

Forget PowerDVD - I gave it a chance three times, but it disappoints me sooner or later.

  6. PowerDVD works for playing back SVCD files. That's how I test my SVCDs.

What you do is click the Disc/File Mode button. It's that little swirly arrow button between the configuration button and the playback controls. Click it to file mode, press the playlist button, and browse to your SVCD and add the mpg files to the playlist. Press OK. Boom, you can play your movie now.

I think you can also drag and drop the mpg file onto your PowerDVD icon on the desktop to play them.

  7. that's the whole point khai PowerDVD won't play an SVCD, it doesn't recognize the file structure. Anything can play MPEG2 that has the codec...but Powerdvd can play the disc only files. If that was allu cared about u could just burn a data disc full of MPEG2 files

  8. Well, I just use it to see if my authoring program burned my SVCD correctly since WMP can't play SVCD files correctly.

But then again WinDVD and PowerDVD works the same way. The only advantage for WinDVD is that it will autoplay a simple SVCD with no probs. If you burn a complex SVCD though, you will end up with the same probs of PowerDVD. For example, if you have a menu for you SVCD, WinDVD will display the menu for like 1 second and disappear then do nothing. You'll have to open the playlist and do the same thing as PowerDVD.

I guess what I'm saying is, the only real test is if you shove the sucker into your standalone.
