  1. I have an AVI, which has been tested with VirtualDub for errors - none were found. When trying to conert it to Mpeg format (VCD), half-way through, the audio loses its synchronisation by about 1 to 2 seconds... I have tried saving thw Wav file and re-multiplex it, but onthing I have tried will do . I am no beginner at this, and have done this iften in the past. I do want to emphasize on the fact that the Avi (DivX Compressed) is fine - the encoding (with TMPGEnc) seems to go without any problem... Only what it produces this time is very odd... (Surprisingly, I have had the same error on another file, ocmpletely different) I usually do not get this type of trouble.

So, let mw know if you or anyone has a lead on this one, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!!!

  2. Under Environment Settings/VFAPI settings of TMPGEnc, right click on your Directshow filter and promote it a few times until the priority reads something like 5. This should improve if not suppress the synching problems when converting from DIVX files with compressed audio.

Otherwise you can try to output pcm wav audio from the DIVX file, and use that audio source separately for your encoding.

  3. Thank you for the tips - sadly, they did not work. I hae tried, and the audio still becomes out of sync at about the half of the movie... Are there any other tricks/tips out there? :P Any help, will be good - thanks!

I would say 90%+ of sync problems are because people don't extract the wav file in an uncompressed form with Virtualdub. It is vital to select Audio>>Full processing mode before saving the wav. And, it presupposes that the avi has good sync to start with!

  5. I acyually save the Wav as an uncompressed file, full stream processing. The audio from the original file (DivX) has a perfect synch wih the video - no problems there... Wish this wouold work, as it is vry much mind boggling... I will post a reply here if it ever works, althogh I have many doubts... Like the title mentionned, this IS a challenge!

    thanks for the help!

  6. As Banjazeer says you have to save it as a UNCOMPRESSED wav...
    do not use
Stream Processing.use Full Processing and save as WAV.
How much is it out of sync?
Does it start and end out of sync or does it gradually get worse?
Is it a Pal to Pal convert or NTSC to NTSC or trying to go between?

  7. sorry - I really meant to write that I am doing Full Processing Mode (not diret stream copy). Got mixed up when I worte it...

It starts to get out of sync at about the iddle of the movie (about after 50 mins). It does not seem to be geting worse and worse - it just gets out of sync from that point on. It is about a-half second to a second off. Just wenough to say thatit really is anoying. thanks for the help...

It is from NTSC to NTSC.
