My question, has anyone owning a player that doesnt support pal svcd, tried to convert this??? my luck is when u go to cd3, i started at last cd as ive noticed i always have worst luck on em, and foudn that CTP can never get their movies right w/o glitches. All tmpgenc does once it get to like 4 mins is give an error? anyone else experienced this? how did you go about correcting the problem? let me know. Im bout rdy to go and shell out for new dvd as this one is testing me real bad.

  2. Hey there,

I was able to use DVD2AVI to create the d2v and mpa files and used those for the video and audio respectfully. Open the mpeg from CD3 in DVD2AVI and then select save project. It should create the two files, .d2v and .mpa. Select these two files when selecting your audio and video source in TMPGEnc. This works instead of having to demux CD3. I did VBR encoding, as well as fixed the aspect ratio by doing Center (custom size) of 480x380.

Some people mentioned a noticable stuttering when coverting PAL-->NTSC, but I have never run into this problem and i have done it with pretty much all of the Centropy releases. The other option is doing NTSC Film instead, which I have been told works better, but I have not tried this.

Let me know if you need more help!

You are getting the problem because you are not running the SVCD mpg through DVD2AVI to produce the d2v and mpa files!!! These are then input into TMPGenc. 8)

  5. Ok I got it to convert BUT I have a serious problem. What i did was use tmpgenc to extract vid and audio seperately. Then i loaded up video and got an d2v file. Next i converted the d2v to an NTSC movie. My problem, it made it HUGE!!!! it went from a 788 mb movie to 900 MB's after converting and then multiplexing audio and video. How the heck did you get around this to burn it on cd? will doing it into an NTSC film make it any smaller? Is there a tool that is free that i can use to cut an SVCD. Tmpgenc doesnt do this. I really need help on this. Thx

Well, my opinion FWIW is that it's crazy to change from PAL to NTSC. However. TMPGenc will split SVCD. The function is time-limited in the latest version. So, use version 1.2 which is still around, do it before it expires, buy it, or look for the patched version.

  7. I dont have a choice but to convert. my pioneer 440 doesnt support Pal svcd. ANd i do not feeling like going out and gettin a new dvd player over that. therefore, i need to convert. Ok i figured out how to get it to cut. I realized that one of the codec things was interferring and when i unchecked, it would load and not freeze. I guess now im going to convert all 4 parts and just make this damn thign a 4 cd'er ah well. price of getting movies.
