  1. I got I-author (the good version - 2.7 mb), and tryed their project builder...VCD Project -> VCD2.0 ->... I followed all the steps, and as I finished I wanted to build the image. It gives me an error "Error 10002: File ...mpg is not a track format"

Does anyone know this error, and the solution?

Another thing, Does anyone know where can I find a PROFFESIONAL guide for this soft?

It's for SVCD's only. It will give errors if you attempt to build anything else with the full version.

Not for VCD. How did you get I-Author to accept your Mpeg1? It only takes .mps files, since I-Author doesn't have a mpeg1 multiplexer. I hope you didn't just rename it

For it work you have to use a program called mpgXmps. It will transform your mpeg into I-Author's mps. Which is in no way close to a standard mpg file. MpgXmps also generates the needed sdt and ep file.

Now that your nice and mad, check your email

I-Author will accept mpg files just fine if your using the vcd function. It only requires .mps files for svcd. The problem is that if you are using the warez version, which almost everyone does, then it wont be able to compile the vcd. The program was ripped improperly. If you want to create vcds with I-Author than you MUST buy it.

    sorry but.....

You have to use mpgXmps to change the 2324 packet mpg to an I-Author packeted .mps. Trust me I just created a VCD 2.0 and burned it, and it played.

In the help file to mpgXmps it explains that it does mpeg1 also. When you create a VCD 2.0 project, and browse for files you have the choice of mpg, or mps.

There was a botched rip of I-Author in the news groups 8-9 months ago that didn't have this feature. If you have this version, I'd find another.

But I asure you that I-Author (the patched version) will create VCD's. You only have to mpgXmps to change the mpg file to an I-Author compatible mps.

I made two .cif files one @ ~400mb<----the one I burnt.
    And another at ~3mb

Well thats good to know that mpgxmps can be used as a workaround, but the official version does allow you to import an mpg directly and export the vcd, whereas the warez version doesnt, which is what I was saying. I was unaware mpgxmps could be used for mpeg1, thanks for letting me know.

    Alex, already did.

Adam, I thought the same. Until I read about mpgXmps, it talks about making VCD's, so I tried it

Any one else who needs mpgXmps can find it here http://members.tripod.de/Gandalf_Grau/

I have the version that shows both 'mpg' and 'mps'. I tryed what you said, but still I get the same error 10002: ...mps isn't a track format. What should I do? Can you Email me your version of I-author?

Did you use mpgXmps? That's what that error is for. Wrong track format means the mpeg was not muxed with the correct byte packet alignment.

Even if you had the $6995 full deluxe version it still would not open regular 2324 byte packet muxed mpegs.

    I-Author requires 3 things.
    1)An ep file.
    2)A sdt file.
3)A mpeg file muxed to it's specs.
mpgXmps does all 3 for you.

If you used mpgXmps correctly and still get errors you have a bad version of I-Author. Or did not apply the patch correctly. Re-read the .nfo and readme files for correct placement of the .dll's. One goes in the systme folder.

disturbed the official version does not require an ep or sdt file for vcds, only svcds. It will accept an mpg just fine. I think this is obvious since the I-Author multiplexor does not accept mpeg1 files and mpgxmps is not created by the makers of I-Author, not to mention I-Author is many years older than mpgxmps.

The use of mpgxmps is a great workaround but it is only needed if you have the warez version, the official version accepts an mpeg1 files directly but then again I'm sure most people are in fact using the warez version.

  16. Oh, I've succeded to vreate an CIF file, but i did it using segments ONLY, no MPEG tracks. Is that what you ment?

  17. Would anyone be kind enough to email me a copy of I-Author - I have looked everywhere and can not find it.

SUrely it can not be classed as warez if the program is no longer being sold?

    Thanks
