Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to author a VCD format disk, on a CD+RW disk, without having to convert the audio, so that a DVD player can play the extended files that will fit on a DVD+RW disk, but recognize the format as VCD on the disk. I have authored a few VCDs in order to record them on DVD+RWs by converting the audio from 44k to 48k, by using TMPEGenc, and the final audio sounds warbly and distorted. I would think since a DVD player already recognizes a CD-R disk, and plays the VCD format on that disk, that it could be fooled into thinking that a DVD+RW disk is actually a CD-R disk, and just play the extended time allowed on that disk, without having to convert the files for DVD authoring, am I wrong?

DVD-R/W/+R/W discs are not made the same way as CDr discs. DVD players that play both vcd/svcd and DVD are built with two different lasers. You can't author a VCD on DVD-R/W/+R/W discs. Thats why CDrom/cDrw drives can read these discs without much problem
