anonymoustly, it was just a phrases used in commercials shown in the states back in the day. for things like gum/toothpaste etc.

no, idea if there are any current commercials using that phrase.

aedipuss "why would anyone care. they suck."

a might not like their music (never heard it) but the fashion difference is at least a bit humorous.

hi, i listened to 'let's go on a vacay' and 'dochter van m'n vader', and no this really isn't the type of thing i'd really listen too/ like.

nah i'll save my hate for all this big/popular rock bands, that i think suck.

(guess i like guitar bands hat are/were considered weird nosy/ were considered misunderstood because they were different. )

but what unity is doing does seem like the sort of thing musically, that could go over well on the top 100 singles chart in america. if they had a chance of airplay/a big label push.

how popular are they in your country ? what's your fave song by them ?

regardless thanks for showing me this. i almost never hear/listen to newer stuff. despite having net access. and in 2025 i listened to fewer things than ever.

anyway based on the photos you posted i was pretty sure i might not like them. and i sort of hate most music anyway. ha ha.

but it was fine listening to them. thanks.

also this music might be a bit too sonically "optimistic" and too sonically "extroverted" for a hermit like me.

are you in the same age bracket as the females in the band ? they're cute...

you never can tell lots of music in the states that you think is aimed at a younger demographic. actually has some appeal is listened to by people that are a lot older.

i just think it's people that were radio fans when younger. some of them still listen to newer radio stuff stuff.

i remember seeing something about solo harry styles stuff and there were people in there 50's and 70's etc in the replies.

even if their music tastes have changed/expanded they still like popular music.

so when i see something like someone in their 60's liking current popular rap music etc. it's not too surprising.

but maybe this no different than someone being in their teems/early 20's and like music from the the 1960's or the 1980's etc.

i just think a lot of popular music has has something about the sonics/song structures/song writing/singing styles/production. that make can make it appeal to various age brackets.

it's been a joke in the states for awhile that some segments of the parents and kids "playlists" look the same.

They sound like a fairly generic pop band, not my style so I can't say if they are good or bad.

A friend who's in a regional cover band was talking about the types of music they played at various events. He said that men preferred music from their teens - early 20's while women loved top 40 regardless of age.

Case in point, I'm in my 60's and like late 60's through early 80's rock while my wife is currently a big fan of Korean boy bands.

thecoalman, did the clickbait. and i see it's the rock band rush.

and since it's rush, huh i didn't watch the whole thing.

maybe if unity gave rush fashion tips.

but rush and unity in the same thread is slightly unique, i guess.

what about instead of rush. we insert the rock band lush !

If style over substance is your thing then so be it. There is no fashion in the world going to give fix ugly ass 50 year old men. Rush certainly isn't known for their looks by any means, what they are known for is having three and only three incredible musicians in one band.
and since it's rush, huh i didn't watch the whole thing.
You should of, it's epic and I don't use that term lightly. It's the intro at a concert for the 2004 R30 tour, 30 representing 30 years. When Rush put on a show they played for 2.5 to 3 hours split with short intermission, usually no opening act. Despite this they still had to leave out many tunes people wanted to hear. The first 2/3 of that video is a composite of the instrumental parts of many songs they wouldn't be playing.

my unity fashion remark. is just my slant on humor.

with some things, i don't like i might get fashion. with rush i don't even get that.

the reason, i didn't really look at the rush vid. is yes, i'm familiar with their bigger era AOR/classic rock played stuff.

and it really doesn't interest me. i got into certain types of alt/indie to get way from stuff like rush or led zep etc.

pretty much no one in bands i like. are going to be labeled "great musicians"/"incredible musicians".

but they'll have a creative personal approach to playing/singing that no "real' band could pull off.

so much stuff i like was done on micro budgets or "pawn" shop guitars. pretty much the opposite of rush.

but it has sounds or sonic approaches/compositional sense no "real" band could even think of. and breaking the boundaries those bands didn't even know existed !

what i need, is great music for people that hate great music.

and supposedly rush counts as great music. so hmm, not for me.

i don't care about great musicians or people that ''can play" or "can sing".

and if they do something that doesn't sound like the usual "riff/chords" guitar sound(s) even better.

i'm very old and ugly. (and broke too) but maybe i'm so ugly 'weird' guitars make me beautiful.

Rush should be right up your alley, They have always been outlier, they are a bands band. Little air play except for Tom Sawyer of course. Typically labeled progressive rock. First album, first song. 1974... I was three. LOL

I get it if it's not your preference but if you never actually listened to them suggest you give them a try. If there is anything that is the usual it's because they helped define the usual.

In case you are unaware Geddy Lee the vocalist is also the bass player, keyboardist and he has a foot organ he'll also use. At most there might be some sound effects triggered by the foot organ, the rest is all them.

  18. I like how this thread went from a present-day girl-pop band to "Rush" in about a dozen posts.

Disclaimer: I like Rush. But I also like all sorts of vintage 60's-70's rock/pop, and of course Elvis, plus I'm a huge fan of "crooners" like Steve Lawrence, Dick Haymes, anywhere from the 30's to the 70's. My wife likes some crooners, so she'll tolerate my collection, but given her own choice she'd play classical 24/7.

It's off topic in off topic. All is fair game.

Zep, Bring it on Home Live 1972

This is by far my favorite Zep recording. Dueling drums, guitar and harmonica.
