I have asked this question in the Videolan forum but elicited NO response. I use VLC v3.0.23 in x32Win10ProV22H2 to play a series of video clips - I want those windows to be in a particular place and of a particular size. I find that at the end of playing the first clip, VLC window becomes blank and enlarges to the entire screen. Unticking 'Always fit Window' in Video Menu only works until a reboot; using Playlist also achieves it, but with 'unintended consequences' that makes it NOT worth implementing. How can I stop the unwanted enlargement PERMANENTLY ?

Try Tools>Preferences>Interface and untick "Resize interface to video size".

Thank you. I have tried that before and it did NOT solve the problem.
Since making my post, I discovered that I had the VLC window being monitored by a Window Manager - when I cancelled that, the problem disappeared.
I can but hope that the improvement is permanent - if it is not, I will be back to this forum.
