  1. Hello,

I am authoring a BluRay and need to convert my WAV file to DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Mono (48kHz, 24-bit)

From what I'm finding it looks like I have to buy Scenarist? Is this really the only option out there?

    Thanks!

No, because FFmpeg does not have a DTS-HDMA encoder.

You probably need either SurCode or DTS master suite, neither are free as far as I know.

  5. You're right, FFmpeg does not have a native DTS-HD Master Audio (DTS-HDMA) encoder.
However, it does have limited DTS encoding capabilities:

    DTS Encoding Limitations:
    - FFmpeg includes a basic DTS (DCA) encoder (experimental)
    - The encoder uses libdcaenc; using "only the most basic compression techniques"
    - It can't match the quality of commercial DTS encoders
    - Primarily supports stereo and some multi-channel configurations

If you just need basic DTS encoding:
    Code:
    ffmpeg -i input.wav -strict -2 -acodec dca -ab 1536k output.dts
For DTS-HD Master Audio encoding, try eac3to combined with ffdcaenc.

  6. Why not use FFmpeg's TrueHD encoder, though? The last time I checked, it was no longer experimental, and it's still lossless, so you aren't likely to get any better or worse by going with this over DTS-HD MA. You can then use eac3to to create and "attach" an AC-3 core to your TrueHD for muxing into BDAV/M2TS/TS with TsMuxerGUI.
