I noticed lately the weird glitch in PotPlayer. Sometimes when I exit the full screen mode parts of video stay at lower part of app interface. Usually its when video display some solid background (same color for couple of seconds, etc.). It started on version 240509(1.7.22232) and continues on 240618(1.7.22261).

Thanks for reply, I'm kind of glad that I'm not the only one with such issue.
I wasn't really looking for solution, just waiting for the update in hope it will fix itself, but, fun fact, yesteday I noticed that PotPlayer is set to always on top. I don't rember changing it, maybe I just click it buy accident or it set after update or something, I don't know. I set it now to never be always on top, maybe its this, maybe not. Worth a try.
If it will not help I will try to reach to developers. Their email adress is in app (run PotPlayer and press F1). -
Hmmm, I had it set to stay on top while playing in full screen. I set it to never now.
I think you should still reach out to them if you have time. Otherwise, there won't be a fix if they are not aware of the issue. And I don't think a lot of users know about this issue or just don't care about it. I searched around and you are the only other person with this issue. -
It's not related with always on top settings. I send them an email with the details. I will update this post when I get a reply.

Message from devs, highly doubt it will be fix. Hopefully, maybe by some magic in next updates.

Edit:
And another message, so yeah, like I said previously.

What card exactly You use, and what drivers version? We will verify if we have the same card.
-

We have different cards and even different drivers so no way it's VGA problem. I'm sending this to devs.

Devs anwser, read: don't write anymore cos we don't give a f***.

Edit 2:
I found a kind of workaround for this issue. When You want to exit full-screen mode, first pause the video, then exit.Last edited by Osin; 11th Aug 2024 at 02:33.

I didn't mean it literally, just read between lines. I had some experience with service and customer support, and it's a common policy to just say, "Everything is ok on our end, it's your issue". I kind of understand them, they can't reproduce this error and receive only two reports, but still.
Then it's even more complex than in my case. -
First of all, apology for double post, but it's almost year since last post, so I think it's not a big deal, considering that I found solution.
To resolve this problem You just have to, unfortunately, downgrade PotPlayer to version 240315 (realeased on 2024-03-15). It can be easily found on VideoHelp Forum, PotPlayer section, older versions. Of course You have to block all updates, check for updates, auto updates options, etc. Also, to be sure, I didn't export any settings from most recent version to old one. Simply make screenshots of your settings, and put them manually to older version. It's painfull, but better to be save than sorry.
For the past couple of weeks I did some heavy testing of version 240315. No more visual glitches or other bugs, etc.
Regarding PotPlayer support... They are absolute joke. I was patiently waiting for them to fix this. Around march they realesed bunch of beta version, so I naively though that they will fix tons of bugs. When they finally realeased stable version 250514(1.7.22541) this happened.

Then I send them message and I received almost immediate reply.
[Attachment 87459 - Click to enlarge]
3 minutes after my message! They don't even look at screenshot! Joke! They don't care. I also found on forum other people who had similar experience with PotPlayer support.
So, if You have this bug/glitch just downgrade, block update and forget about support and new versions.Last edited by Osin; 17th Jun 2025 at 08:30.

Hi everyone!
I ran into an issue with RTX 4070 and Ryzen 7 7800X3D on Windows 11, where parts of a window would "stick" on top of other windows after minimizing or resizing certain apps — especially video players. The stuck area would reappear when moving the mouse around.
After hours of testing, I found two working solutions:
Solution 1 – System-Wide Fix
This fix works for any application, not just media players.
Step 1 – Set Windows to High Performance
Go to:
Start → Control Panel → Power Options
(Switch to "Small icons" view in the top-right if needed)
[Attachment 88677 - Click to enlarge]
Select: High performance power plan
[Attachment 88674 - Click to enlarge]
Step 2 – Set NVIDIA to Maximum Performance
Open:
NVIDIA Control Panel → Manage 3D settings → Global Settings
Set:
Power management mode → Prefer maximum performance
[Attachment 88675 - Click to enlarge]
Step 3 – Force High Performance GPU per App (in Windows Settings)
Go to:
Settings → System → Display → Graphics
Find PotPlayer (or add it manually)
Click Options → Set to:
High performance
Repeat this step for any app where you see the issue (browsers, media players, etc.)
[Attachment 88676 - Click to enlarge]
Step 4 – Restart your PC
Make sure to reboot so changes apply correctly.
Why this helps:
In Windows 11, the GPU may enter low-power P-states (like P3/P8) when idle or during light tasks. When an app (like a video player) suddenly needs GPU acceleration, it can cause glitches if the GPU hasn’t fully “woken up.” Setting everything to High Performance keeps the GPU active and avoids these sudden transitions that cause rendering bugs.
Solution 2 – Media Player Specific Fix (PotPlayer)
If you only experience the issue with video playback (e.g., PotPlayer), this method can help too.
Steps:
Download and install madVR (a high-quality video renderer)
Open PotPlayer → Press F5 to open settings → Go to Video
Set Video renderer to: madshi Video Renderer (madVR)
[Attachment 88678 - Click to enlarge]
Close and reopen PotPlayer
Now madVR will start with PotPlayer and appear in the system tray. It takes full control over video rendering and bypasses Windows DWM, effectively eliminating this rendering bug.Last edited by Negqtive; 11th Sep 2025 at 13:53.

I was having that same problem, you know, not only that, but also one where when I exit full screen mode, the screen flickers for a few seconds.
-
-
I don't know if I needed to install it, because in my Potplayer, this Madashi option already comes natively

I saw your post on Reddit and wanted to ask there if it was the same problem as mine
Unfortunately, the only solution is to downgrade to the version I posted (I can also confirm that up to this day I have no more bugs/glitches).
If it comes to support, I don't bother asking them to fix this bug, because the only answer from them, as you can see, is: "My system is OK."
My is also ok, and I don't need some new fancy features I won't even use once.
Yes, it is native. I got this in my version also, and I didn't install any additional codecs besides what PotPlayer downloads itself when installed or when running unsupported video format. Doubt it will resolve this glitch, but it's worth a try.Last edited by Osin; 19th Sep 2025 at 10:35.

but if you don't want to test it, no problem, I'll test it myself. I've already also downloaded the version you said doesn't have this problem.

Hi,
I didn’t have any flickering, but I occasionally experienced a similar graphical glitch — just like the one the original poster described. It happened rarely in browsers and quite often in PotPlayer.
The issue looked like this:
[Attachment 88820 - Click to enlarge]
When exiting fullscreen mode, part of the screen would “stick” to the interface and would only disappear when hovering the mouse over the affected area.
After switching both Windows and GPU settings to High Performance mode, the glitch hasn’t returned.
Regarding madVR — yes, I did install it on my system, and while using it, the glitch was completely gone. However, after the performance tweaks fixed the issue, I went back to the default renderer and everything still works fine. -
