  1. Hello everyone,

I would like to make the text under a (German) traffic sign legible. The video was recorded with a dashcam.

    Resolution: 1920 x 1080
    Data rate: 7700 kBit/s
    Frame rate: 30 frames/sec
    File extension original file: MOV

Are there any (free?) tools that can enlarge the video and decipher or sharpen the text under the traffic sign?

I am currently using Cyberlink Power Director and Aiseesoft Video Converter Ultimate – unfortunately without success so far.

I need the text recognition for a legal matter.

If anyone knows of a solution or can help, please get in touch (also via PM). It's for a good cause.

Thank you in advance for your help!

    Martin

  2. I've seen dozens of posts like this in various forums. 99% of the time the video contains nothing that can be enhanced, not even with modern tools.

Even AI cannot correctly recognize what's on the plate if it has absolutely nothing to go on.

You will need to post the video if you hope to get any help. If you can almost make out the letters, or can positively see one or two and just need help with the remaining letters and digits, then there might be some hope. Otherwise, forget it.

I always include this link when responding to these requests:

    Let's Enhance

The problem is that you've seen dozens of these scenes and therefore believe this is possible. It is not (usually).

  3. Unless the sign is new, or it's some rural area , another approach is to use Google Street View
