I have a sandisk cruzer 3.0 USB drive. I cant remember how big it is, but it is only giving me 29 gbs of space. I remember it being bigger. I did format to NTFS. How can i retrieve all of my space back and what tool to use to get it? Diskpart?

  2. You could reduce the recycle bin size.
Rightclick the recycle bin icon on the desktop and set the size of the USB cruzer to 100MB.

  3. You could also do a right mouse click and select 'properties' to get more info on that stick.

Probably a bits vs Bytes issue. Here are some of my drives (Right-click "My PC" choose "Manage" then "Disk Management":

Disk 4 is labelled as 4TB.

Disk 6 is labelled as 16GB.

You can see you don't get all the disk to use; you "lose" ~10%.

My hunch is that your stick is 32GB with ~29 useable.

You should be able to see what is the size of the disk written on the label. If it is 32Gb then this is the maximum you will get, as Alwyn explained, otherwise it is a fake disc.

  6. Disk (USB or plastic) capacity and the usable space are related but the figure may not align for good reasons:
    1. manufacturers often quote Gigabytes as 1,000,000,000 bytes but technically they are 1,024,000,000 bytes.
    2. some of the available space is taken up by the format pattern and the partition table and file allocation tables.

  7. You still haven't posted the properties of that stick. Can you do that please? See post #3 for directions or do what Alwyn did and post that here.

Fake sticks can be made to post incorrect data but checking properties is what I do first if I have an issue with a usb stick.
