Dear all,
we are searching for a supplier/ shop for the following broken part from a Sony SVO 5800P. It is the loading gear sitting on the motor shaft of the loading tape mechanism which broke due to old age. Although glued our technician noted it should be replaced.

it would be also helpful to get to know the original sony part number which we could not find using the various manuals available on the net.
Thanks a lot!

You might be able to 3D print that motor coupler, but it probably won't be much stronger than gluing/epoxying it. I've glued one of these before and never had an issue afterwords.

Glue it back in and put a heat shrink tube of a tight fit over the shaft and heat it up, cut away the square coupling cavities so the worm plastic shaft would slide in and out easily, this should be a permanent fix.
Note: do not glue the two white pieces together, allow the shaft to slide in and out, it is by design to avoid torque spikes at the start of the motor, otherwise it may trigger a fault of a blocked motor due to a current spike trying to move the cassette carriage abruptly, the gap allows the motor to spin up before starting to push or pull the load depend on the direction of rotation.Last edited by dellsam34; 3rd Sep 2025 at 11:50.
