My 8mm tapes (using an DCR-TRV240E) have white transparent flickering blocks, visible both on the camcorder's LCD screen and on the capture. What could be the reason for this?
Not all parts of the videos has these types of bands, but some clips have them.

It may be ralated to the tape itself and its recorded content. Try to disable all features of the camcorder (TBC, Noise Reduction) and expertiment what happens. Also try another player if possible.

@jokris: There is a chance that only 1 field is poor and the other field is intact (or better). You can check by separating and inspecting the fields. Or upload the snippet with the stairs here so someone can take a look.
