  1. Anyway to burn a dvd with ac3 5.1 sound and keep the aspect ratio of 16:9? I'm using the m2v file and the .ac3 file from ripping my movie. I know SpruceUp will do this, but it converts the video to 4:3, and I would like to keep the 16:9. I've been trying to figure this one out for sometime. Any able to help? I hope so. Thanks.

  2. I am not sure if this will work but give it a try. Spruce checks the validity of the .m2v file on first import but not thereafter. It probably sets the DAR in the header to 4:3 at that time too so you could try this. Creat your spruce project and save it. Exit Spruce. Use a suitable Mpeg header editor (not sure of the name but it should be in the tools section) to change the DAR back to 16:9. Re-open your spruce project and create your DVD to HD. Test this on your PC before commiting to an precious DVD-r.

As I said, not sure if it will work but worth a try.

  4. Actually, I think the problem is with the IFO that Spruce generates. If you generate the MPG using TMPGEnc or CCE, both will mark the frames and header of the Mpeg as 16:9.

I've used Spruce with a 16:9, and used IFOEdit to modify the header to 16:9 and it worked fine.

The alternative is to find DVDMaestro - it's Spruce's big brother and gives you almost total control of the DVD (although it's a tad harder to learn).
    Godd luck.
