I captured large mpeg2 files, which are bigger than 2G.
Nero is reluctant to copy them on a DVD disc (neither with Pioneer DVD-R/RW or Panasonic LF-D311), complaining that they are too big for the ISO format. I do not want to slice up these files; are there any way with Nero 5 to copy large (>2G) files onto a DVD disc?

The DVD spec says that all files MUST be less than 2^30 (1GB). That is whay all DVDs are made up of VOBs that are 1GB long. Author your files in a DVD authoring package and it will break up your files to comply with the DVD standard.
If you want to put these files on a DVD-R, you can't use NERO's DVD-Video template. Use the DVD-ROM template (but this won't play in a set top player). -
if you are planning on burning an MPEG2 movie to a DVD-R using nero and expecting it to play in any dvd player, ur mistaken. the mpeg2 needs to be authored first. check out the authoring section under the how to's on this site.

I'm using Nero 5.
I do not want to create video DVDs, I simply want to copy large data files (which happen to be mpeg2s) onto a DVD disc.
Shall I use UDF format?
