  1. using a laptop from 2014 with built-in firewire adapter/port and using a 4pin firewire cable on both sides for camera and laptop port, used windv to transfer video to disk, I tried the default windows 10 1394 drivers then tried custom driver from a site and same sympton, also tried windows 7 ultimate sp1 x64 live win2go from a usb drive and tried transferring DV tape to AVI on an internal ssd and same sympton as windows 10, I also tried the custom 1394 driver that I tried in windows 10 on win7 and same audio stutter. check video,,, could you recommend a solution? I read is cause audio is interleaved not analog but I don't know the difference.

I also tried PowerDirector 365 in windows 10 and same.
    what can I do?
video on vimeo plays at 30fps i think but on my computer and the camcorder plays great might be 60hz interlaced but feels better than on VIMEO and the video is not my issue

    All tapes?

Sound stutter occurs through the camera speaker when you play the tape?

You may have more chance if you upload direct to here as an attachment an original sample and not a remuxed one that you link to.

BTW There is no such thing as a default Win10 1394 driver. All support for DV has been removed from Win10 so you require the legacy Win8 driver. On the other hand, Win7 has native DV support so you really should not need to mess about with other drivers.

And where did you get this 'custom driver' from ?

Are your setting for type I or type II? Also try Sclive instead.

I'm curious about which sample rate the audio track is set on the tape and the setting for the DV capture, as there has been known issues in the past about 32kHz and 44.1kHz rates and playback vs capture compatibility.
Also, there is DV LP speed options, which use has been known to exacerbate capture incompatibilities.

  6. Another thing you can try is running ubuntu or other linux distro off usb and use dvgrab for capture.

no it doesn't although the play back is wrong I'm gonna have the DV camera checked and by the way this tape on the vimeo site is the only tape that gave me this choppy sound, other tapes record fine but still the playback on the camera is sluggish so I'll come back to this post when I get this fixed. Also recording most of the time the lcd displays garbich images.

this is what happened windows 10 came with some dv drivers after installing the dv camera with the firewire 4pin cable and windv the app wasn't detecting anything so i installed some other drivers from i'd have to dig but i found it on google and it worked perfect to my opinion, is just this tape that is choppy for audio other tapes apparently not but my dv camera drive is bad when playback so I first have to check that on a shop;.
