  2. Depends on a lot of things.

What kind of AVI is it -- what the video? DivX? How high is the bitrate

whats the audio stream? is it mp3? how high is the bitrate?

put the file into virutaldub and then go to file-information and let me know what it says then maybe I can suggest something

  4. well you almost gave me enough info to work with :-)

not your fault your not familer with this stuff

ok from what I can tell your audio is WAV (not compressed) - you can run it through VirtualDub and change the WAV audio to MP3 -- that should save you a couple hundred meg

I still don't know what the AVI is ? uncompressed or DivX - run it in MS Media Player and go under properties and tell me what codec it's using for the video

    I bet it's DIVX

    Look at the resolution.

  6. Greg your proablay right but with the audio being 48000 Hz (I'm assuming PCM WAV) it's very odd

who makes a DivX with WAV audio??? ...just seemed so odd I didn't 100% assume it was a DivX

then again 48000 could be mp3 --- we need bitrate for both the audio and video :-) ... so hard to help with so little info

  8. Ok then no

unless you want to go to a lower bitrate on your mp3 or divx

the higher the bitrate the better the quality

if it's too big and you want to split it into part1 and part2 - just open it in VirtualDub and set both audio and video to direct stream mode and then mark in the beginning of the move - slide to the middle then hit the mark in button

the save avi ... this has just cut your DivX in half - do the same for the seond half

again you could lower the bitrate on the audio and video and even reduce the resolution but then I dont think you would like the quality

DivX and MP3 are cmpression - so whoever created it - did compress it to where the felt that the quality and size were balanced
