  1. I tried using Nero to burn to DVD-R and it gave me an error saying that "The medium is not writable. Please insert a writable medium..."

Thing is, I've burned DVD-Rs directly through SpruceUp and Ulead's DVD MovieFactory sucessfully. I even tried a name brand DVD-R with Nero, same thing.

I'm running WinXP, I don't know if that means anything. Also using latest version of Nero, 5.5.8.0. Has anyone else had this problem? If so how did you fix it?

If anyone that hasn't had this problem still has an idea of why this might be happening please let me know, I'm up for any suggestions at all!!! Thanks!

  5. if ti's version 5.5.8.0, make sure it's a clean install, unistall any other version of Nero, up to that point all other version of Nero had no problem upgrading, 5.5.8.0 seems to be the exception. Once there make sure you select the DVD menu and insert your media, it should not matter DVD-R or DVD-RW as the only difference is with DVD-RW you get the option of ERASE REWRITEABLE option. Ands make sure you unit is set for device and not virtual recorder.
