  1. Hi all,
Just a quick question, when I create a svcd encoding the avi to mpeg2 using pinnacle the resulting video quality is poor, jumpy and unwatchable when I encode using TMPGEnc Version 2.53.35.130
the results are perfect. Is it possible to get pinnacle to do this for me as I would like to add intro text to my svcd's...???

    Thank you..

  2. AFAIR, Studio 7 will export SVCD compatible MPEG2 files, but I wouldn't bother. Edit as normal and export as an AVI using either the standard DV codec or to save space a lossless one like HuffyUV. Then use TMPEGenc or CCE to encode to SVCD. Studio 7's encoder is lousy, and produces huge macroblocks compared to a decent encoder like TMPEGenc :-)

    Tachyon.

  3. I haven't had a problem creating MPG2 files with the SVCD export, but have had problems with the MPG2 DVD standard export. Are your videos coming out jumpy during times of motion or blocky when the camera pans quickly? This is the type of problem I am encountering.

I suspect that we might be having the same problem encoding to MPG2.

  4. As I said, IMHO the MPEG2 encoder in Studio 7 is naff. I wouldn't use it, to be honest. The artifacts it produces can be awful if you have the wrong footage - like you've noticed - and it's slooooow.

    Tachyon.
