  1. Hi all. Just a curiosity question here.

I'm somewhat a newbie at converting movies to vcd's. I've made several vcd's from dvd, home movies, and downloaded movies. All is well, but I've noticed that upon playback in my dvd player while watching on occasion the picture will freeze for a very small amount of time. A fraction of a second, if that. Perhaps freezing on a frame or whatever. It does it probably about 3-4 times over the course of a movie. It's actually hardly noticable.

I know it's not my dvd player, 'cause i've checked it out on friend's dvd players as well and it does the same thing.

It's not really a problem, or annoying in any way. It's just something i'm curious about. I suppose it would be nice to solve this little glitch, but it's something I can live with.

I guess my question is...Is this just a fact of life making and watching your own vcd's, is it normal? Have any of you encountered this yourselves? Any way I can solve this or should I just live with it?

I'm using TMPGEnc to encode, and VCDEasy to burn at 4x.
Thanks in advance for any input.

What is your DVD player model? And your friend's?

My Philips DVD 622 had this problem with VCDs created with TMPGEnc, and I guess many other Philips DVD players have the problem too. The problem was fixed when I upgraded my firmware to v.4.15O-0
