Apex AD1500 Why do I see the menus on my home made VCD's

I have Apex AD1500 I've tried makeing a VCD This titles & menus with both Spruce DVD and Ulead Movie Factory, both produce a VCD that, when placed in my Apex will show me the file tree. Now I used Nero to make Titles & menus and I had no problem, what gives?
