I have an totmc EZ-Cap, to go from VHS TO muh file, but I have a problem with the sound match the spoken words? It seems to be a few seconds off. Is this a software issue or an EZCap issue? How do I solve it? What type of capture device would you recommend? John

Most "EZ CAP" devices are fake, counterfeit knock-offs.
Stop trying to capture to MKV. Try capturing a lossless codec first.....then encode that file to whatever you need.

What capture devices aren't take? How much should I expect to pay for a decent one? Lossless codec (avi?)?

"avi" is not a codec. The codecs most often used for lossless capture are huffyuv and Lagarith, some use UT Video codec. Huffyuv uses less CPU power.

EZCap, EasyCap, aka "Easy-Crap" (a nickname that should tell you something) aren't so great. A similar but better long-time budget favorite is Diamond Multimedia's VC500 USB.- My sister Ann's brother
