  1. Here's the deal I have Adobe Premiere 6.0, What I do is capture my home movies to a DV-AVI, slap on titles, music, etc. and now I need to output as either Mpeg1 or Mpeg2, I tried the Panasonic plug-in, no good too may problems, I've been playing with Terran Cleaner 5, but Abobe has to open that program at out put, so now I got 2 programs eating memory, and to top it of cleaner 5 is very picky and if you try to over ride its "wizard setting" then some times it locks up. Now I hear great praise about tempeg. But now I'm looking at Adobe to Tempeg (correct me if I'm wrong, the only way I can use tempeg is to export my project as AVI and then use Tempeg. Now won't I lose quality as well a hours of time converting down to AVI then convert back up again, Is there any addon / plug in that will just export to Mpeg 1 or 2 right out of Adobe? I can export to AVI, MOV, and some other formats but what about Mpeg? What do you guys use? (I mean the people that use Adobe).

You can frameserve from Premiere to TMPGenc using Avisynth. I believe there is a guide on this site.

The way I prefer is to take my edited video with titles, sound effects, etc and play the timeline back out to tape. That produces a nice digital backup in DV format that can be used in the future to re-encode etc.

Then I transfer the edited file back to the computer and run it through TMPGenc. This is actually the fastest way I have found and automatically produces a backup on tape.

  3. Yes if you can either use the LSX MPEG but it has problem with VCDeasy or use the TMPGenc with frameserver.
download at http://www.videotools.net/uk/index.php and isntall that.
later when you want to export the timeline, in the general tab, choose the video server and click the advance setting and locate where you gonna put that dummy avi file (ipcserver.avi) and do ther setting such as the resolution, gamma correction and etc.
hit save and name the output wuth what ever you want since it won't be saved by premiere.

Video serevr window will pop out and there will be a countdown.
and click GO. what happen after clicking GO, the video server will create that IPCserver.avi file at the location you have determined before.

open up the tmpgenc. and open up the ipcserver.avi as your source (audio whould be automatically loaded). Change the settings as what ever you want and just start the convertion process.

Wo what happen is TMPEGenc will use that IPCserver.avi file to ask for frame to process and video server in the premiere will feed the data right away.

    Good luck.
reach me at adinatha@msu.edu if you got questions.
    hope that help.

  4. If I understand correctly I'm using this program you reffered to save the Adobe premiere project as an AVI, then I'm opening up Tempeg to convert that to a Mpeg 1 or 2, Now 3 weeks ago I saved a adobe premiere project as a AVI (this took 6 hrs) then I opened up Tempeg to make it into a Mpeg (2hrs) then I burned a VCD. Then it occured to me Why do: Capture to DV-AVI to AVI to Mpeg, Why can't I just do Capture to DV-AVI to Mpeg? It would save me at least 6 hrs? right. I don't feel a great need to use tempeg or V-Dub, I just can't see tacking on 6 or more hours to every thing I do just to use them. The point is how can I do a save as / Export to "Mpeg" just Like I can to a AVI?

You have your save settings in Premiere wrong. You need to check that the capture, edit and save settings are all the same (ie DV format avi). I don't have Premiere here but look at settings viewer which I think is in the second drop down menu. Make sure you use export file to disk.

In short, the save to disk should not take any six hours.

  7. poChrist,
with frameserve the avi file are not really created.
the only result should be just mpeg with no avi at all except that ipcserver.avi that you need for tmpgenc to read and encode.

  8. Hello,

You can use Premiere Video Server Plugin v0.93, I use it and it's a good solution.

Just go to export timeline to movie, select the codec (video server), and it generate a small AVI (100k). Open it which TMPEnc (whith the windows of the plugin and premiere still open), change the options, and click start. It's all.

    You can download fron http://www.videotools.net/uk/download.php

    Saludos!

    Toni.
