  1. i jus converted a divx file to mpeg1 format for a VCD

these are the programs/settings i used:

virtualdub - To convert audio (188KB/s total bandwidth required)
    Sampling: 48000Hz High Quality
    Precision: 16-bit
    Channels: Stereo

tmpgenc - To convert divx to mpg
    VCD (NTSCFilm)
    Motion Search Precision: High Quality

in tmpgenc i put the avi file as the video source and the wav file as the audio source and started the conversion process, but when i viewed the resulting mpg file the audio was out of sync

i have looked around and guides to fix audio sync problems say to convert first using virtualdub, but i do this every time and this happens for some movies, for other movies it works

can anyone help me out with this problem? really bugging me...

    any help is appreciated, thanks

  2. In VirtualDub, see under file information:

If it is 29.970 fps then load NTSC templete (in TMPGEnc)
If it is 23.970 fps then load NTSCFilm templete

  3. when u save the audio to wav wit virtualdub, maybe you should open the wav with winamp to uncompress the wav. or save the wav as PCM uncompress with virtualdub. I had the same problem with TMPGEnc, when I played them on my dvd it was out of sync, and insync. at times it went with the audio and sometimes it didnt.

I have just read in another topic today (AVI in sync, MPEG not) that you should bump up the priority of DirectShow filter (AVIapf) to 5, in TMPGEnc options...

It worked to the member that was having audio sync problems...

when you say DirectShow filter do you mean DirectShow Multimedia File Reader
that is the only thing in the list that has DirectShow in its name...

Use the panasonic mpeg1 encoder, it won't make it out of sync

these are the limitations that i would rather not want of the trial version of panasonic mpeg1 encoder:

    4. The movie length for encoding is up to 30 seconds.

    5. An expiration time function is implemented (1 month).

    6. "Panasonic MPEG1 Encoder" will be printed on each frame of encoded movies.

    7. Batch Processing is not available for Trial Version.

    8. The MPEG1 system stream for VideoCD may not work with "Nero" CD-R writing software.

  9. lol oh yea, i forgot that i got it off this one website that had a serial but we are not allowed to post links to warez. I think you just need to uncompress the .wav file, when you save the wav in virtualdub, open the wav with winamp. stop it if it's playing, press CTL P, on the left where it says Plug in's, goto Output and double click on Nullsof disk writer plug in. Then choose a folder you want the uncompress wav, then click ok and close that window. Now click play and you will have an uncompress wav, after it's done you have to go back to Output and double click on Nullsoft Directsound so you can play music on winamp again. Now put the new wav file you created in the audio source in TMPG and choose your video source. Now when you encoded it, im sure it wont be out of sync. Because i had the same problem as yours once, that's when i switch to panasonic and it had a guide about converting the wav with winamp
