Currently my capture chain goes like so:
Panasonic S-VHS NV-HS930 --> VCC-3310 Video Processor (corrects video/cine colour etc) --> Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle (s-video port)
But some VHS tapes I have are getting black frames when capturing and I need a Time Base Corrector.
I have a couple of choices, but which should I use:
- TVOneTaskTime Base Corrector with Genlock1T-TBC-GL
- DataVideo TBC-3000
And where in the chain would it go? Before the video processor or after?
Thanks for any ideas.

	The DataVideo gets better reviews than the TVOne. I have a TBC-1000 that works pretty well, although it tends to roll on bad cuts. I also use an AVTool 8710 which does a better job on horizontal sync but has its own problem with field ghosting. I usually put the TBC ahead of the proc amp. Everything is hooked up to a 4×4 switch so I can instantly reconfigure the chain without unplugging. Sometimes I'll put the proc amp first because the 8710's AGC has trouble with really bad vertical sync.

	Ta for the insight. Ill consider using the TBC-3000 then. Cheers.

 Update: Got the TBC-3000 and it does the job. I like being able to now see where I am when fast-forwarding or rewinding the tape instead of it blacking out! Nice.Last edited by Bassquake; 3rd Jun 2016 at 13:38.
