Suddenly we are not able to play our VHS tapes - the sound is fine, but the picture fluctuates on for a second, off for a second. Tried adjusting the tracking. Tried new cables. Even bought a brand new VCR player. Still having the problem. Using commercially recorded VHS tapes (Disney for example) that have not been overplayed/abused. Any suggestions for what I might try next? BTW - the unit also has a DVD player that works just fine so I know it's plugged in correctly. Thanks!

Grab a non-commercial tape and see if it still happens.

If no then 1. if yes then 2

1: Tape degradation ... unit being tripped by macrovision and unable to keep signal sync when play back of vhs commercial source

2: Issue with display unit or the current input sockets from source device

I have seen similar happen when people get the cables crossed over ... video wave in and out caused by bad input socket or circuit on display.
