  1. I am currently planning on converting all of my VHS tapes to VCD and am having problems with my AIW Radeon 7500. I am using the included capture software, because I can't find any free apps that work under windons 2K. Whenever I try to capture, there is a bit of grainy distortion at the bottom of the image, sort of like the tracking is off. I think I read somewhere before that this is a problem common with the ATI capture software. Does anybody know what causes this or, even better, know how to correct it? If the answer is as simple as an alternate capture program can you point me towards one? I have every other part of the process down, and this little annoyance is all that is holding me back.

It's not the software, it's the video itself. The video you see on your PC screen is BIGGER than what you see on the TV. The lines at the bottom are there on the TV, but you don't see them since they are off the bottom of the screen. There is a 30 pixel buffer around the edge of the video that isn't seen on TV. There is nothing you can do to get rid of the lines other than cropping the output.

If you are going to be playing these on TV, then ignore the lines at the bottom and do a test record. I promise you won't see it on the TV. If you want to watch on the PC, then you need to crop the output. Unfortunately there is no option in MMC.
