Hi
Is there anything out there (preferably free) that can create a time lapse video from an existing WMV video file? I have googled it but all I can find is software that will create a time lapse video from a stream.
Appreciate any advice you guys can offer.
Regards
Will

If you could find a WMV editor that can decimate the video by removing, say, ever other frame, that's one way. Or as many frames as needed to achieve the effect. Then when it's viewed at a regular speed, that would be time lapse of a sort.
Easy enough to do with a program like VirtualDub, but not in WMV format. But others may have a idea of how to do it with WMV.
And welcome to our forums. -
virtualdubmpeg2 supports wmv or latest virtualdub with http://home.comcast.net/~fcchandler/index.html . BUt you can not save it as wmv, just avi.

If you find the patience to: install the WMV9 Video Compression Manager,
use VirtualDub for wrapping WMVideo in an AVI file, then convert the .avi into a .asf
with Solveig ASF Muxer. -
this is quite an old thread but i've just come across the same problem. I wondered if in the intervening time there are any other solutions surfacing?
i have one long wmv video file that i need to speed up by about 10x.
