    Hello all,

I possess the avermedia avertv usb hd dvr (C874) and I have problems recording gaming footage via component cables through other software then the included software that comes with the C874. The software (Total Media extreme 2) doesn't fit my needs for recording gameplay.

Although every other software i download doesn't work (Preferbly want to do live commentaries without sycing up the audio and video after recording)

There is a software that i've used before I restarted my computer back to factory mode called "Avermedia Recentral" and it worked...but now my computers back to factory mode and i can't seem to use it. The recordings just end up as grey screens or "no signal input" even though i caught footage for about 2 seconds.

I contacted avermedia and became an active member on there forums, but there poor customer support is why i'm here today.

Thanks for listening to my problem

Are you sure that program supports the C874 USB model. When I searched the Avermedia site for supported software it only offered Total Media Extreme(2). The codes on the RECentral software downloads show the C127 and C985. If it really works I might be tempted to try it myself one day the GUI looks pretty nice.

I own the usb C874 but it's on a shelf since I currently use a Hauppauge HDPVR2 1512/1519. When I had the Avermedia hooked up for a few days I tried a Graphedt filter graph and also recall that KMplayer and PotPlayer saw the device (for what that's worth). Maybe NextPVR (GB-PVR) would work.
There's not much to do but then I can't do much anyway.

Thanks Gll99. Those programs help, but i'm still looking for the functionality of c874 (I'm looking to do live commentaries, but I can't exactly do it without having a program that would mix the audio and video of the xbox 360 with my microphone connected to my computer) I can't do it TME because of the input lag. I could do the whole syncing the audio with audacity and another program however my cpu isn't strong enough.

I know it's possible to use c874 with recentral...I probably bypassed the system for some random reason. I feel if avermedia actually cared then they would have added the c874.

If you ever work around with recentral and get it to work with the c874, let me know!

As to your commentary problem you could feed the audio from the game console and your mic output into any type of external audio mixer and then send that output to the c874's audio L/R input connectors. I would imagine the audio / video capture should stay in (delayed) sync as it processes through the device. The C874 bypass should keep the audio and video in real time so you can play and hear the game and hear your comments as they happen. If you don''t have one you might find an old audio mixer in a garage sale or flea market for just a few bucks.
