Best mkv editor (+ effects + save as mkv)

Hello.
I was wondering if there is a software that handles mkv files (crops scenes , edits etc.), but also you can apply effects (like fade in, fade out, crossfade between scenes etc.), and save as mkv without any loss of the original quality.

I have episodes of a series in mkv (H264, DTS), and I 'd like to make a movie out of various scenes from the episodes..

I saw AVItrimmer, but this doesn't allow for any effects.

Nope. Such effects requires renconversion.
