Hello. I'm pretty new to capturing, and decided to futz around with my stuff today to see what I could and couldn't do.
I have a whole bunch of old movies that I wanted to put to a VCD or a DVD (since I have a DVD burner, as well) But I figured Macrovision would get in the way--but for some unknown reason, it doesn't, and I have no idea how or why this is working, but I'm terribly happy.
Here's my configuration:
I have my cable hooked up through my Panasonic PV-8450 VCR (less than 5 yrs old, too), which I hooked up to the computer, through the cable and an RCA cable.
I'm using the ATI TV Wonder VE on Windows XP and on a Dell 8200--and I haven't used any other types of drivers except what came out of the box. I tried two fairly new movies-- (at least in the last 5 years) about 5 minutes each, it works beautifully.
When I remove the RCA cable, the macrovision seems to kick in, but with it it goes away.
Anyone got any ideas as to why this is working? Granted I'm totally happy with this, but I'd be curious as to why it is....
