Does anyone know of an alternative to MSU Subtitle Remover for the obscuring of hardcoded subtitles? Whilst I've got MSU to work about as well as I suspect it's going to, it seems to me that it's fundamentally undermined by trying to be far more sophisticated than is realistically possible >> there's no way hardsubs are ever going to be rendered invisible, so all I really want is something that can detect the presence of subtitles (which MSU does reasonably well) and then ideally apply a simple custom mask (a decent rectangular blur, as with Delogo) to just obscure them so soft subs can be overlaid on top.

Since this doesn't seem to be possible in MSU, does anyone know of another Vdub filter etc. that could selectively apply such a blur (or, better yet, work with existing subtitle timings, obviating the need for detection)? Delogo but with the ability to add/remove the blur mask in time with the subtitles, basically. Or, if detection is unavoidable, the ability to stretch the timings (i.e. apply the blur earlier, as MSU was frequently late in detecting the subtitles by a few frames).

If nothing exists that would do the above, would any programming maverick fancy having a crack at adapting the Delogo source code to include some kind of sub detection and/or timing feature? Probably asking for the moon on a stick, I realise, but I'm sure I can't be the only one who's ever wanted to do this.

On a related note, if the mask would be coming and going, would this prevent the filtered results from being properly frameserved? I'm assuming this is why I couldn't frameserve the MSU output.
