  1. hi there. i have a avi file thats 650mb (115minutes), when trying to burn with nero the output file size says it's 1125bm?! am i going wrong because of the length in mins? or file size?

should i try cutting the avi in half to put on 2 disks? if so what software should i use or is there a better way to do this. i have seen a post like the one but i cant find it. your help is appreciated as im new to this, so thanks in advance for you help.

  2. Dear friend,

The best way to do that is Merge & Cut on TMPGEnc, choose File, MPEG Tools an then this option, right ?

Before you can burn the avi file to VCD/SVCD, you must convert the file to mpg-1 for VCD & mpg-2 for SVCD. Depending on how you want the finished quality of your video, you may be able to adjust the video bit rates so it will fit on 1 CD. By looking at the size of your avi file and the length of your movie, I suspect it is already highly compressed, I don't think you can get too much quality by lowering the video bit rate.

Anyway, yes, you can cut the video by using Merge & Cut on Tmpgenc, but it must be in mpg format first, and depending on your file, sometimes the video & audio will go out of sync by using this method.

Try convert the avi file to mpg by using tmpgenc, go to setting & under the advance tab choose source range by double clicking it. From here you will be able to adjust how many minutes you want on the video by choosing the starting point & ending point.

There is so many ways you can do to make your mpg file to look the way you want, you just need to play around with it.

Remember, you can put 800 mb of mpg file on a 700 mb CD, if you are making VCD/SVCD's.
