  1. I just installed MMC 7.6

It has a new look which I think is silly but that's no big deal to me. It seems to have much better vcr functions than previous versions. Now when you use guide + to schedule a recording you can set the record quality on the spot. It also has a one touch record function that is great.

It prompts you to use it's own format (ATI digital VCR) which I did. It says you can export to mpeg when you want.

I still can't use TV on demand on my system. I get blue diamonds all over the pic when it plays back (any one else?)

MMC 7.6 also has a multimedia library that looks like it might be useful. Haven't had time to play with it.

It is now easy to set the default file where recordings will end up. Just use the little folder in the upper right hand of the recording window and do a save. From then on that's where things go.

I want to access the TV on Demand Wizard. The brilliant help file is the kind that tells you what is obvious ("The TV on Demand Wizard allows you to set up TV on Demand") but doesn't tell you where to find this Wizard. I don't think it is the same as the set up Wizard. Anyone?

I hope MMC 7.6 is skinable because I want to get back to a more utilitarian look. I haven't found how to change the skin yet.

Skin control in in Windows Control Panel.

I upgraded from 7.5, which had a problem with the VCR. When selecting an input for the VCR function, MMC would ignor it and always default to the tuner input (which I don't use). This is fixed in 7.6.

TV on demand works for me, however sometimes it's jerky and I have to reboot the machine.
Also, after about 90 to 120 minutes of TV on Demand, trying to use FF or RW becomes a pain in the ass. I'll click the FF button and it will take several minutes to find the spot and resume playback. It's faster to just watch the commercials.

I've downloaded 7.6 but haven't had time to install it. Can anyone tell me if they now have an option to shut down video display (overlay) while recording (like VirtualDub can do with F6 function). I just know that the CPU has to be using up critical interface bandwidth to support overlay while trying to save max data to the hard disk.

    Thanks in advance.

  6. 7.6 is now posted on the ATI site

Bad news is my system crashed big time shortly after I installed 7.6

Now I have, after much trouble reverted back to the drives and MMC from the CD and I am going to stick with this configuration for at least a couple of weeks and make sure I am right about what is crashing things.

Too bad, I really liked the new ATI Multimedia Center.

  7. I just checked at ATI and MMC 7.6 is there. I just go to "Built By ATI" support, and then choose Windows XP and All In Wonder Radeon. I suppose it isn't there for every configuration.

Don't know if this works but below is the address

I haven't had the time to play around with it too much, but I like it so far.

The newer DVD player seems to be less buggy.

The tv function also seems to work more smoothly.

  9. Damn, it states on ATI's download page for 7.6:

    Do NOT use it for:
    ATI TV WONDER
    TV WONDER VE
    TV WONDER USB Edition
Older ATI-TV tuners that attach to the graphics board with a ribbon cable.
I was hoping to use it for my TV Wonder USB edition.

Do you guys know why we shouldn't use it ?

  10. Is this "legit" version of MMC 7.6 any different to the "pre-release" we all got a few weeks ago? I see that it is a much smaller file size (even with the extra DVD 5.0 download). Would it be worth my while installing this? My existing version of 7.6 seems fine, and I don't want to screw around with my system any more than is absolutely necessary!

Re: the two week old version, anyone having problems with TV on Demand?

I keep getting a jerking picture (like dropped frames). I didn't get this with 7.5, but then, 7.6 couldend schedule recordings thru the SVideo input.
